Ventrilo Server Donations Info

The 5punkorp ventrilo server currently costs £6 per month to maintain.

Please help keep it going by sending me some cash.

Why are we paying for one when Quinn has offered us a free one? He should have one available by this Friday (right Quinn?) to use and it should have enough spots to run the whole alliance if we want.

When we get the new one setup don't just drop the old one but as long as Q's get's used it should be free forever more.

Quinn, feel free to step in here as it's your baby. I'm just pimping it out for you.

So, in summary:

Free + lots of spots supported by a great web hosting company = good.

As it says in the seconds post, I am not looking for more donations at this time. We're good for now.

If Quin can give us a free vent server then I don't think anyone is going to have a problem with that

Ok, if Q hasn't even mentioned this to ya'all yet then he fails. I know he touched on it once in a post earlier but seriously he fails if he never explained it further.

Here is the scoop:

Free = Free.

Quinn works for crystaltech, a webhosting company who is looking to get into the voip/game hosting business. They gave him 250 slots to parcel out to people to measure bandwidth usage for two weeks. If people use it then his company will pickup 1000+ slots from vent and start hosting it for fun and profit. Q will then slip and and take charge of this new division of the company.

So, as long as we use the server he provides for the two weeks (for free) the company will keep the program going. With Q being incharge it will continue (to be free). He told me it should be ready by Friday.

Q, I hope for sure you can jump in here. I love pimping out your stuff but seriously, I can't believe you haven't talked to the guys yet :p

Also, there's a split in the hobo's, some want vent, others want or have to use TS for some reason or other.

I think the only reason is cos vent makes Amith's computer crash. If he sorted that out we could all be on Vent. Anyone feeling technical enough to try and help him resolve the issue?

I thought it was because Amith was on dial-up and the connection can't handle it.

Has he tried the obvious things like sound drivers and maybe motherboard drivers?

I'd much rather we used vent, sometimes I cant understand people on TS.
