Wireless headsets
Yep, I know we've been over this a few times but I'm looking specifically for a wireless headset. My reason is that I've just destroyed my Medusas by leaping up for the door while the cable was across my lap, tearing the cable mounted volume controls apart. Yes, I feel like crying at the moment.
So, I'm going for wireless to avoid this in the future. I don't care about perfect sound quality because my hearing's shit anyway. I don't care about surround sound because I've never managed to get that to work. I don't much care about price, within reason. I do care about them being comfortable and for the mic to be half decent.
It's a fucking bank holiday too, so it'll likely be wednesday before anyone'll hear me on TS again

Yup, that's pretty much the conclusion we came to last time (for friz I think)MrGreen wrote:The bluetooth jobbies are mono, not very loud and run out of battery after a few hours, not exactly perfect, but one of the better options IMO, there is very little wireless gaming headsets. Grhr
Basically, short of really high end shit (like radio mics), you only get cans or bluetooth headsets for mobiles.

Quite possible, but a lot of the lower end things are really fucking uncomfortable depending on head shape.Fear wrote:I've got some wired plantronics headset thing and it is really comfy and has survived many violent accidents. And it's cheap.
It might work out better to get through 10 of these than buy a wireless one mayhaps?

I must say, I also have a cheap Plantronics and they can take some punishment. I can wear them for quite a while before getting fatigue. THe cord is long enough to reach all the way from the back of my PC around the back of my desk to the front and still have about a foot and a half of slack when I'm in my normal position. And I haven't heard anything that costs about the same that sound this good. I paid like $30 for them a while ago and they sound pretty damn good.
The wires inside the cable are tiny thin little things with bits of string in them. They're 5.1 surround, which means there are 5 speakers in each can, meaning 10 crappy little wires. I'll just get some new ones.
One other thing I'm looking to avoid then is the big breakout box that came with the Medusas. Nice as it was to a big potentiometer volume control seperate to the speakers, it took another power socket and we all know how valuable power sockets are.

I was looking at these, but I'll spaz back to the last thread and check those out. You wear yours a lot so they can't be bad.
