&

Medal Of Honour Allied Assault - War Chest (Includes Spearhead & Breakthrough expansion packs)

I'd love to play Ghost recon co-op with some fellow 5punkers, so let me know if you have the game and fancy giving it a go.

What do people think of the MOH series of games, as oddly it's not a game title that ever comes up here at 5punk

Is it GR:AW or Rainbow 6: Vegas which need a monumental PC to run at decent resolutions? Or both?

I was considering buying this a few days ago as it was rather cheap in a grainger's games bargain bin.

EDIT* Yeah, MoH is allright, but CoD and CoD2 eclipse it.

both, and neither are that good, IMO.

I've never liked the Medal of Honour series myself - always found them to be horribly, horribly linear.

Liked Ghost Recon, can't remember which one it was I played though. I remember in the booklet there was a description of one of the British soldiers in the game - he was a traditional Yorkshireman who supported Blackburn Rovers. How the fuck do they figure that then?

GRAW runs okay on an oldish PC, Vegas does not. The MoHAA games are slightly unprettier versions of CoD but with some extremely cool moments nonetheless*. And IIRC some rather pesky snipers on one level.

I think it was the original MoHAA team (behind that War Chest release) who went on to do CoD, stuff like Rising Sun was someone else, and later.

GRAW never took off, as most people got annoyed with the spacky AI, but there have been a gazillion patches, and I've never actually tried the MP on it. I believe Chicken reviewed it rather unfavourably. (/me whistles innocently)

*Where CoD had the scenes in Stalingrad almost exactly like those in the film Enemy at the Gates, MoHAA has the even more famous Normandy Landings, as chronicled by Cornelius Ryan - made so by the films The Longest Day, and of course Saving Private Ryan.

Yeah I think the MP side of Ghost Recon is quite good from my quick blast on a random server earlier, but would be really good with 5punkers

it may be the fact that i swept vegas, and somehow the textures didnt unpack properly or summat, but i found that whilst shiny on the surface, if you have a good squint at the textures, some of its horribly chunky, i tried me vs ai on dam, noticed very quickly that despite max everything at 1280*1024 that the buttons/dials whatever on the walls looked a bit crap, is this just me? regardless, ravenshield is better.

Medal of Honour series = Fail narf.

They tried, but it's just bad, it's rather liner and has nothing special to make me go "ooooh" plus the fact that putting an entire clip of a sub machine gun doens't always finish someone off in single player really really really pisses me off.

After all, it IS about war, you can only dum the damage model down so much before it becomes laughable.

I got GRAW free with my graphics card and it seemed okay. I didn't have the patience for the single player, as it required squad management which I really can't be bothered with, but the MP seemed fun. Co-op especially.

:above: this

I thought GRAW was great (playing GRAW2 at the mo) but i suspect they are more suited to be played on a console
