and made it to a place that sells expert salvage kits. I have to say the pay off for my suicidal charge doesn't seem to be as epic as I expected

Well, last I tried it, you get a random chance of getting some better materials, like silk, linen, etc. But it's a very remote chance.

Try using it on coloured items, ie. swords with special attributes, you'll get an upgrade part or a rune

It seems that after an update, my jaunt was for nothing, as you can now get the Expert Salvage Kit from Piken Square. No bother, as my guy has been as far as the temple of the ages and I still haven't even done Defend the Wall. :p

I'm saving that guy to do the missions with a friend of mine. I've done the sides quests and stuff, but I haven't done the big ones yet. He's still only level 16, so there's room to grow
