Oh bollocks.....PC failing to power up.
OK, here we go-
Over a two week peroid, I didn't touch my PC, I didn't switch it on, I didn't even touch it, but having tried switching it on after the two weeks, it powered up, but the monitor was showing no signal.
I thought I was a problem with the graphics card, and I tried a different card, a different monitor, different cables, different outputs and I got nothing, everything else seemed ok. I got bored and I left the PC, untill today, I decided to try re-seating the RAM, I did, and when I put the power cord in my PSU, the fans spun, a symptom(?) that I had experienced some time ago, so, when I pressed the power button, the fans spun for a split second, and then, noting.
I have:
A 300W Arianet (old, (early atx) but good)
a 6600GT AGP
2x512 Crucial value DDR400 ram
ASrock DUAL-Sata 939
A64+ 4000
OK, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Take out everything except for the CPU, RAM, and the videocard. If it still won't POST, then you've got major problems. If it does, start adding in hardware one piece at a time until something causes it to break.

I've actually had this before, no joy on the memory
EDIT* Yay, I tried taking out the ram for the nineteenth time, and I got POST, with a surprisingly warming alarm beeping.

Hrrmhhpph, I just won't post with ram in, I tried all the configurations and got zilch. I'm off to see If I can salvage some DDR from another computer to test this one.
EDIT* Bollocks! All the other pcs in the house have either DDR2 or RD

it's possible it's a quirk with the mobo (as asrocks can be funny IME)
also http://www.ocworkbench.com/ are pretty much the best place for asrock support.

Oh for freaking sake!
I tidied up the cables on my PC and I switched it on....BIOS was fine, but It just wouldn't recognise my hard drive (Sata), so I changed the location of the MOLEX>SATA power connector which it was plugged into and tried. The HD spun up and everything but I got my original problem, so I went about reseting the CMOS and re-seating the ram and I got nothing, most of the normal sounds, just no display, but I could tell it wasn't booting.
I'm getting very sick of my rig now, and this is the worst timing, with an 8800GTS and a new PSU in the post.
Grr, please help.
The prospects of a new motherboard are suddenly very entising.
