I'm so excited. As a completely passionate (obsessive?) gamer, Half-Life 2 was one of the most special times in my life. And now, all over again... ALL OVER!!!

Also, cheers for buying the mag, very kind.

Valve on exploding barrels wrote:"We always joked that players would give us some slack if right towards the end we took them past the Combine's exploding barrel factory. Maybe with the soldiers coming out of the factory with their own personalized signed barrel, and a note saying 'Never stray more than ten metres from your assigned barrel.'"

-Marc Laidlaw
lmfao! that would be something that the No One Lives Forever series would do...

I still haven't played HL2 since I got to the hovercraft bit where you try to escape.

I'm looking forward to DOD though, it sounds cool

Cheers Jinxx,

All that stuff on lighting and HDR on the lost coast sounds awesome, no chance of me being able to run it though :(

But I am looking forward to DOD :)

That's a beauty. just the other day a friend and I were talkin about where all these exploding barrels come from and whether there's some kind of open source model pack called "Generic exploding barrels." The conversation propted me to add a few exploding barrels in a map I made to aid my Uni application. Nothing triggered them at all, they just went off when the camera flew past them. Made me chuckle in my interview anyway!

Seriously though, the lost coast map looks like a beauty. I'm runnin a 3.2ghz P4 and have 1gig of ram but I feel my Geforce FX5600 will let me down. Anyway I am in the process of upgrading my graphics card so we shall see.
