Any PS3 owners here?

Post by spoodie »

I'm just wondering if anyone bought one? I've read on the Internet that they didn't sell out in most places, true or not true?

I'm considering buying one (I will go halvers with somebody); I think it's the prospect of LittleBigPlanet and Shadow Of the Collosus in upscaled HD.

I need to buy a HDTV now. :(

Meh for me. I'm never likely to get one, but not because I hate Sony. I can just think of lots of better things to spent £400 odd on than a games console. I'm still after a Wii though.

If I get one, it'll be an import from the states, I'd rather not pay an extra what? £100? for a cut down version of the console just because I'm european. Fuck that on principle.

possibly, but it's hardly difficult to convert 230v to 115v.

I asked at my local ASDA today (as I was wasting my money on Stalker) and they said they had sold a few, but still had plenty in stock.

pffft

That's bad news for both Sony and me as I could end up buying one in a moment of weakness.

Next year, maybe. See what happens with the games and whether blu-ray drives for PCs drop in price.

As far as games goes, more and more seem to be becoming multi-platform, which is a big problem for Sony.

As far as Blu-Ray goes, well it's all very nice having these hi-def movies, but I'll be damned if I'm going back ten years in time and having a format for my entertainment media that I can only READ from.

I might get one.

In a few months.

If lots more decent games come out, the price drops by about £300, I get a HD tv and I get a raise.

So not hugely likely

I'd buy an Xbox 360 and a Wii before I bought a PS3.

Im with deject on this, i have my 360 and cant fault the graphics, lots of mates have a wii and they are great for pissed up party games, perfect combo in those two consoles. The ps3 with its potential to do a betamax/minidisc with its blu-ray has some games that look unbelievably sweet, but when us europeans get the shit one that doesnt support all the ps2 games, and then we are asked to pay more for it, fuck that, it doesnt supply anything i dont have, or have access to, already.

Fix'd, although I'm not sure why I felt the urge. Just seemed right.

all of that. If I wanted a piss about console, I would get a wii. If I wanted a "serious gaming" console (for want of a better term), I would get a 360. The *only* selling point for it is the blue ray thing, and frankly, *if* that takes off, I would rather have a dedicated player than some "ooh, i also play movies" games console.

Blue ray has been taken up by the porn industry, they are the reason Beta max failed when the porn industry started using VHS. Most DVD's that are sold are porn (60 odd % I think). So seem blue ray will take off if history is anything to go by. HD Fanny hurrah.
