I know a couple of friends with these, seem very swish; and they've got a mini SD card slot so you can make more use of it as a digital camera.Woo Elephant Yeah wrote:Yep. mines on Sunday, and I'm getting one of these from the missus

one thing to note....never drop one of these. i know someone who has one and then dropped it on a soft, furry rug and it completely buggered up the screen. they've had to get a new one it was that bad.Woo Elephant Yeah wrote:Yep. mines on Sunday, and I'm getting one of these from the missus

My phone is ancient now, and I want something good enough to take photos with, and my Sony Cybershot camera is only 2MP, so this is even better.

Also, any phones with moving parts are especially vulnerable. I have used nokia candy-bar type phones for years, and they are reliable and sturdy.
currently a 6233, which is very good. Nothing beats the battery life of my old 6310i though.
I have always gone for the block nokia designs and never had any problems. I've only replaced them to upgrade, not because they've failed.
My sister in contrast always goes for the non-nokia phones with moving (sliding, hinging, etc) parts and her phones are always breaking. I must have replaced 5 ribbons on all her phones so far, and they seldom last much more than a year.
She has the D900 now and it's quite a good phone. It feels much more robust that the others like it I've seen. She's a heavy user and this one still works perfectly. When it does finally die I suspect I will be replacing another ribbon between the moving parts tho.

i got a sony ericsson k610i, my dad got it for half the prize. it's got a big screen, but way too small buttons, a problem very common to the cellphones of today. i'm pretty sure it can do a couple of fancy things, but i don't give a flying fuck since i only use it for phoning and messaging. pffft!, what am i like!

Yeah I had a Sony Ericsson something or other. 610 I think. It was so hard to use and the joystick was crap. I soon replaced it and it got demoted to a GSM Modem. The only way I can use it effectively is with a telnet promptMr. Johnson wrote:i got a sony ericsson k610i, my dad got it for half the prize. it's got a big screen, but way too small buttons, a problem very common to the cellphones of today. i'm pretty sure it can do a couple of fancy things, but i don't give a flying fuck since i only use it for phoning and messaging. pffft!, what am i like!
It now texts me when a server spacks. Wouldn't touch another Sony.
Edit: hehe, I posted this before seeing your post Berk.

The only phones I've broken were ones with moving parts. Back in the day we all had Nokia 7110s at work - the ones out of the The Matrix.
One guy answered his and the slidy bit shot off the phone onto the floor. He then picked it up with his free hand and started trying to talk into it - it was much

That reminds me of going to the Terminator ride/show in Orlando - which needs 3D glasses - and some idiot was filming it with his camcorder and had one of the lenses of the 3D glasses over the camera lens, like it would work. Some people just don't appreciate technology has it's limits.

I had a friend with a flippy phone, she managed to snap off the screen the other day, but the phone still functions, so you could type numbers in and ring them, but you could only talk to them, as it didn't have the speaker. We made some funny calls that day.FatherJack wrote:The only phones I've broken were ones with moving parts. Back in the day we all had Nokia 7110s at work - the ones out of the The Matrix.

I've got one, very happy with it, had it since start of January and it has so far survived being dropped countless times (once into a puddle) and is still all fine, and the slide action is as smooth and nice as the day I got it.Woo Elephant Yeah wrote:Yep. mines on Sunday, and I'm getting one of these from the missus
