Finding a new home

Post by friznit »

As no doubt everyone knows, 5punkorp is leaving ISS. We need to find a new home. Our old stomping ground in Metropolis (Frulegar, Osvestmuner, Elgoi) seems a good place to start but there may be better alternatives out there. Things to look for as you wander around empire:

Station with all facilities: medical, repro (50%), factory and offices that aren't heinously expensive (click the rent office tab to get a price quote). Plenty of belts in system that aren't constantly whored and a bonus if there's ice. Proximity to a mission hub would be nice, although we can always set up another office for that. We'll be able to move around empire freely at last. Oh, and we'll need some low sec nearby for the carriers.

Some idea for starters:

Hek or nearby: strikes me as popular because it's on the boarder of several regions - good for trade, lots of cosmos and mission agents, low sec nearby but very crowded and a notorious haven for empire pirates.

Frulegar: our old home in Eastern Metropolis. 0.4 system, well known for where 0.0 pirates go to chill out and gank haulers, but good ore and not too overcrowded. Carrier cover whilst mining anyone?

Hoth/Khank: we could go back here. We all know it well and it has everything we want (which is why we chose it in the first place). We could even bring some hurt to the IAC/TCF logistics in Hoth. Then again, I must confess I'm a little bored of the area and sansha rats. It'd be nice to try something different.

As soon as I saw this I thought of Frulegur. Before we left we were having problems with RA gankers and we weren't in a situation to fight back. Now 5punkorp has teeth and can probably give any pirates who fancy a go a sound kicking. Nothing in the way of blobs there, but plenty of people in sniper BSs who were happy to take out a newbie in a Rifter.

Damn, I've made myself all nostalgic now.

My vote is Fru. Im kinda bored of Khank/Hoth been there since I started the game!
Fru seems like a good oppurtunity for ratting/mining/PvP (show them pirates who's boss). With it being next to high sec aswell, seems a perfect place!
I think basing the carriers out of Tabbetzur (in jump range of Fru, station, POS to jump into etc.) If we do go to Fru area, I will happily buy a small POS (if we aren't getting a POS anyway) for carrier use.
Anyway my 2 pence :)

My vote goes frulegur too. Power and experience 5punkorp has now, we could so easily lock the place down if we wanted to. (And low sec, rabbit'd get a chance to use something other than a dictor properly for the first time on months).

Pros:
7/10 Gurista Complex 5 jumps away
Standard belts have Kernite, exploration belts have gneiss (So only thing we couldn't mine is megacyte)

Cons:
Smack bang on the 0.0 entry pipeline. Lots of traffic.
Potential Pirate Dreadnoughts to deal with (But we're good at killing caps now, right?)
There's only 6 belts, and no ice.

OK, looks like Fru is a good place to start. Fea is gonna say 'told you so' now. I've tried to let the office in Fru die so many times since we left and he keep renewing the rent. So there it is.

I still think a mining base somewhere like Elgoi, Osvest or nearby to Fru would still be good though. I really fancy some quiet mining without having to watch local like a hawk constantly.

Tracey: I don't think a jump pos is entirely necessary narf. Just dump a suicide cyno by the station and insta dock. With no WT around, 100mill plus fuel is an expensive extravagance when cyno gens only cost a few isk to build.

How much do fighter bpo's cost btw?

I'd.... get to pvp in a ship other than a dictor?! :) Anywho, I'm easy, just I'll be popping up to Gallente space every so often for some Lvl 4s while we're in empire :P

Might come with you rabbit - I still got my T2 mission raven in Tidacha. I must confess I totally forgot about it and noticed it languishing there last night, complete with a rack of T2 invulni fields

Personally, I'm quite chuffed that 5punk is leaving ISS - it means I can try and come back in and not be encumbered by the alliance politics that got me so bored in the first place. I've been playing 'on my own' for a while, I think it's time I got back into the proper corp mentality again.

Time to resubscribe! :)

I must admit I've been losing interest in eve a bit ever since IAC started attacking us in catch. I'm glad we can have a bit of a rest and a change from alliance politics. Fru gets my vote :likesitall:

5punk sans alliance is great I think. :w00t:

I think I will continue with pissing about in caldari space for a while mission-ing - but when I get a little more time I'd love to come back and 5punk about again - with no alliance demands or any of that rubbish. Doing what we want not what others horse upon us. Best times I had in 5punk were our little gangs before everything got so hostile and wars broke out.

Also I have negative minmatar standings so missioning there is not gonna happen. Amazingly I am still slightly positive with gallente - and I keep killing them fuckers way more than minmatarians.

I started training for dictor a few nights back after rabbit begged me to relieve him of the only <strike>faaabulous in the vi</strike> dictor pilot. Do you think this is still worth training for? Bubbles in 0.0 only, or do they work in low sec?

damn this wasn't here when i went to bed and now we're decided all ready. i am fine with that area but here is one that is not near a 0.0 system, has jaspet and kernite and all the other good low ends. Nardiarang is a 0.4 and has a a few more ls systems near bye. also has a few 4/10 and 5/10 all with in 5-6 jumps. the complex is blood, rats are blood. the system is 0.4 and a few jumps from vecamia (an empire crossing point from amarr to gallente, i was podded there 3 times in my eve life, all in the first week but thats another story) 6-7 jumps from there is where all my agents are. I have 3 amarr and 2 caladari agents, all give faction ships too. cosmos wise amarr, is close as well about 10 jumps, jita is 11 jumps, rens is 14 i think, tash is 5 or 6 jumps so all the major market hubs are with in reach of each other.

i am fine where ever we go but isn't part of the reason we're leaving iss is to regroup, fatten wallets and all around get away from battle unless its on our terms? just something to think about when deciding places to live

dp

ps

some jumps might be slightly off, doing it off of memory and its been a while since i've been there.

Atm i have to relocate my agents in caldari navy atm. i have 2 lvl 3 in omio or something like that. North in alal with lvl 3 and 4 with amarr.

Fru is next to a number of safe systems so no need to worry about that :)

We're only heading for Fru initially for want of any better ideas at the moment. We just need to get everyone together in the same place with all our kit and then work out where to go. Come to think of it, Fru's probably not the best being 0.4 and all.

Let's look at it tonight. Pick an RV somewhere central but off any major pipe. I'd like to move everything less the carriers themselves to one place, reunite cans with owners so people are happy they've got their stuff, and then get it all repackaged from Giant Secures into freight containers if possible. Basically, I can see us moving quite a lot in the future and I want to be able to do it more easily than at the mo. If everyone has a freight container and some GSC's they can switch between freightering or conventional haulers as required. I'd like to make this office a central repository for deep storage of kit for people who are away as well. At the moment it's all a bit haphazard and stuff can go missing too easily.
