I think its more OCD than that - like my friend who has to put his shoes on left then right. I made him put the right one on first once, but he had to take them off on the bus into town and put them on again, left one first.
I can see the appeal of the icons, and they make the forums look quite good - especially the Gaming Chat one where there are a lot of different ones on show. However, I equally admire Berk's persistence in never using them!

Just to clear things up, I liked the Geekfood thread, I thought it was a good addition to 5punk, and it's a shame it got deleted.
People who continually don't bother to use message icons annoys the piss out of me, because my already limited time on 5punk is spent tidying the place up and adding them to everyones post. This definitely annoys me more than anything.
However, the "what's the best cheese" thread quite possibly made me want to vomit every time I seen it rear it's ugly head in the forum
(Waits for someone to reply to it again)
I've been thinking, seeing as the take up on adding food stuff to the wiki hasn't been very good, how about a food and drink section.
Everyone can post recipes to dishes they have made, and cocktails that have gone down well (and inevitably been brought back up again) that sort of thing...
On a slightly different note, (and I've touched on this in the past) replying to the same post constantly in a forum is very very bad as far as running a forum goes.
It makes forums look less active than they are, and makes searching for things, or the chance of google coming up with a result on them nigh on impossible.
Popular threads will always be popular threads, but containing something that should be discussed forum wide within 1 post is just silly.
I'm sure most of you use other forums similar to 5punk, and you'd have to admit that we have a very laid back attitude compared to other sites which in most cases is a good thing.

Just to be devil's advocate, I've a couple of arguments against a food and drink forum: The Wiki is (in my opinion) underused as it is, and diverting food and drink away from it can only make that worse. Maybe we should be trying to promote the Wiki instead? Also, would a food and drink forum detract from the gaming theme of the site? There's not an awful lot of posts about it and those there are would comfortably come under the general forum.Woo Elephant Yeah wrote:I've been thinking, seeing as the take up on adding food stuff to the wiki hasn't been very good, how about a food and drink section.

That'd be dumb, even from my alcoholic foodie point of view, it just wouldn't get the usage it'd need.Woo Elephant Yeah wrote:I've been thinking, seeing as the take up on adding food stuff to the wiki hasn't been very good, how about a food and drink section.
However I was thinking that it might make sense to have an other hobbies forum.
That way we have somewhere to dump food, airsoft, painball, photos, IEDs, etc etc.
I disagree, the wiki is great for storing stuff (in the case of food, for recipes so they don't get lost).Dog Pants wrote:stuff
But it's pretty useless for discussion and stuff which is where a lot of the 5punk interest in food lies.
