If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Given we've not had one of these in a while (if ever)...

Please post small (800x600) or less in the thread with link to bigger

edit: silly mod, it's not just windows desktops, mac and linux are allowed too.

Berk, your desktop gives me the fear (and we have had this thread before, but it was aaaages ago). I've got my desktop on Flickr, but I'll opst a pic with all the OS goodness on it. By the way, what's with the double taskbar? Both of you have masses of shit in your quicklaunch and system tray. Am I just a clean freak or something for not doing?

Any reason it gives you the fear?

I just like it because it's quick for stuff I use often and not having shortcuts on my desktop means I can just dump crap into my documents without misplacing shortcuts to stuff.

As far as the system tray, most of it's just handy to have accessible while not really needed on the taskbar.

I never have desktop icons, the quick launch is far neater and tidyer, that way I use my desktop as a http download dumping ground.

If you change the quicklaunch icons to big, they are the same size as a desktop shortcut anyway.

I'll post mine when I get home

It's a bit 'busy', I know. I just love the photo.

And yes, that is a shortcut to The Sims 2, before any of you smart cunts point it out

The background is from the day I did my parachute jump, lovely day it was too (eventually).

Also, all of the software on my desktop, especially the applications is 100% legit*.

Very nice Lee. I used to be like you, but I have become an 'info-holic' since I moved to dual-screen.

I think it's the eyes and the shinyness of his helmet.

/is not surprised at all :)

Mr Johnson, that is truely hideous. I used to use a SporeTemple background called Brainfish for jusst that reason. The radial blur gave my boss a headache so he couldn't watch me over my shoulder.

Here are three work ones, I actually use the default bliss image at home as I have mismatched screens and I never really investigated getting anything to fit. Plus I don't spend nearly as much time looking at it as I do the ones at work.
