The Wii - Is the Magic Gone?

Computer And Video Games asks the tough question: is the Wii's magic gone? After the flurry of excitement around the launch, lackluster ports and a persistent inability for Nintendo to keep units on the shelves has made it hard for gamers to sustain their enthusiasm for the system. It doesn't help that most of the good games slated for this year won't be out for months. In some cases, there's doubt they'll even make it out this year: Reggie Fils-Aime appears to be backpedaling on Metroid Prime 3 by Christmas, which would be a shame. GigaGamez has additional commentary. Are you still as excited about the Wii as you were when it launched?

More games needed yes. Proper ones, not shitey ports. It's only been out a couple of months, though - and traditionally the leanest ones for games.

Still, it probably won't ever have loads of games, particularly exclusives. This was my main worry about it before release - Nintendo don't seem able to keep the games coming the way the others do.

I think they're still selling out, though - and people are still asking me why I haven't brought it round for a while.

Are they? Or are they just not resupplying? I've been looking for one since New Year and I've only ever seen one or two in stock on dodgy websites. I can't find any information anywhere as to when these stock problems will be alleviated.

I suppose with such a revolutionary control system it should probably be a concern that there's only a limited amount of games that will make good use of it, and that once the novelty has worn off it'll fall by the wayside. The way things are going I'm going to get disillusioned before I even get a chance to buy one.

I still play mine most days, although it's more because I'm working though some older zeldas.

Having said that, I've just bought Kirby's Adventure. Win!
