Post by The Incredible... »

Ok so i got my new hardware today

graphics card seems to be working ok

but windows doesnt seem to be detecting the hard drive

it's a 500gb seagate barracuda connected to my second sata connector and power is connected fine

it seems to show up in system > hardware > device manager under disk drives, but not in my computer

nothing at all.

right now you do have a disc installed, but windows doesn't know how to see it.

do this

Code: Select all

Control panel > Administrative tools> Computer Management> Disk Management
Then right click your new drive and partition etc, you might need to format it too, but i dunno.

alternatively, you can just enter your motherboard's BIOS and find out there. There should be a page for all your SATA and IDE drives.

yays

i seem to have sorted it now

now i just need to transfer all my media from the other 2 disks, about 120gb, could take a while

if i transfer all of my music from my external drive (E:) to the new drive (F:) and then switch the drive letters so the new drive, which will then have all my music becomes E: that won't cause itunes any problems finding the music iwll it?
cos the music will still be in E:/my music/artist/album, right?

that should probably work.

just remember not to open itunes when you're changing stuff.
