I have a mild element of smugness about this one, as I rather like it.
Couple of guesses and I'll stick up another clue.

No need, I'm fairly confident it's Rushmore. Right?
Cracking film with an excellent performance from Jason Schwartzman.

Can we ban spoodie from this competition? I'm now 99% sure that he has seen every film ever made ever by anyone ever.
But yes, its Rushmore.
My next one will be as near to impossible as I can make it.

You can't ban me, I made this thread, it's MINE!!!!111
I'll take a step back and not answer any more unless people get really stuck. You can have another go if you like, I can't post until I get home after 19:00 anyway.

Is that from a film? Looks like a semi-emo photo from flickr to me.

100% from a film, although not sure if it was black and white originally.
Edit: Original is indeed colour, and is on imdb. Film is fairly shite, but the soundtrack is good.

Knew, only seen bits of it though. Recognised Samantha Morton straight away.
