If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Spec me a decision.. Bitches

Post by MrGreen »

OK, my bank has recently given me a tidy sum of £320, and I am unsure of how to spend it: I have narrowed it down to 3 choices, but other suggestions are welcome.
If I really need to, I can push another £100 on top of the £320

My choices are:
A midrange DX10 card (est. around £200), a decent PSU (£60+) and a new £320 GB Sata2 HD (£60)
-or-
E6400 (£150) 2GB DDR2 (£120) new PSU (£60+) and a very cheap PCI-E card (£40) SKt 775 mobo (<£100)
-or-
An XBOX 360 premium + a game or two (£320)

most prices are estimates, or based on OCUK

Ah, The obvious reply.

I feel like an idiot for asking a question which deserves a non monosyllabic answer.

While not top end, for gaming your machine isn't massively lacking anywhere but graphics really.

so i'd take option 1, maybe squeezing an extra 512 mb of ram out of your budget (about £30-40) as you play beef (which performs much better with over 1gb of ram)
