Removing old forums?

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

In your opinion, what forums should go, and which ones should stay?

Does it matter if they aren't active?

Post a list of what you think should go, and any other feelings on the subject.

I think the Enemy Territory Forum should go. It's never used and there's no further development on it so there's no new information to add into it. My $0.02, which after the exchange rate equals about pocket lint. :P

I'd consider less removing the deader forums completely, more mashing them into a catch all other FPS games forum.

I'd feel bad if any forums were actually removed (except maybe the Postal 2 forum).

I've just had a thought - what about having the abillity to choose which forums you'd like to see and then have a toggle button to show the others?

I know Stoat is probably reeling in fear at this getting any sort of approval, which is probably the only reason I'm suggesting it ;).

It'll take a lot to convince me on this one. The way I see it, it can only enforce the playing of certain games you already know, rather than being able to see if there are new games, or if other games becoming popular.
It'd be like blinkers on a horse.

I agree, as I quite enjoy reading the Eve Online forum, even though I've never even picked the game up before in my life.

At the moment I'm favouring the "Other First Person Shooters" idea

Not if new forums were automatically added to your visible list(?)

I just don't think it's a good idea myself, it just strikesme as an ikky idea.

Well, we could just leave well enough alone and let them sit idle. They aren't exactly hurting anything, afterall. :P

Maybe you could propose a list of unused forums by looking at how many posts and when the last post was made etc. (I would but i'm lazy :P ) then say in 2 weeks they'll be removed, and an 'Other FPS' one created instead, but if anyone disagrees they'll have a chance to put forward a case to save any forum they are particularly fond of.

I like the idea of an "Other FPS" section, as currently I don't tend to add new games to list on 5punk, if the forum is likely to just stay quiet with hardly any posts.

Basically it all looks rather pretty having a forum for each game, however, with them being really inactive, it makes the 5punk community look less active than it really is to new people/visitors.

Did that last bit make sense, as I've re-read it, and it sounds like complete mumbo jumbo bollocks?

Yes, no and it does. :D

I agree though, i think less more active forums makes sense.

There's no point having 10 little forums with a total of 8 posts, you might as well have one big forum.

it'll also make people look at more games in some detail.

Nope, that was bollocks too

Seems to make sense to me, and I agree, busy forums are good for 5punk, dead ones not-so-much, they seem to be there just for the sake of it.
