I'm more put off by $270 for Home Premium and $400 for Ultimate. For an OS that really offers me nothing it's fucking expensive,

personally i'm well happy with XP, I was glad to be shot of 98 as it was a big sack o' shite, but XP is aces

Can't see me adopting Fista for a couple of years at least until either a) I have to for work or b) It proves itself to be damn good, given that so far, it has only proved itself to annoy me slightly

Happy as I am with XP, I remember the hassle I had with 98 before I decided to move. With this in mind I was considering making the jump sooner rather than later, but with all this big brother shite that Microsoft are notorious for I think I'll wait for the dust to settle before I part with any beer tokens.

Though I will probably end up getting it because of the need to be seen up to date in business, I really hope I can stay with XP just so I can vote against all this DRM, remotely controlling what I can do with my computer crap.

Still my Linux partition allows me to do anything I want I suppose.

The only reason I would want to upgrade to Fista is direct x 10. 99% of other new "features" in Fista will just be an annoyance to me that I'll disable anyway.

I'm sticking with XP as long as possible but I know I'll have to upgrade sometime to play dx10 games in all their glory

This. Judging from everything I've read the ONLY positive thing about Fista (for me at least) is dx10. Everything else is pointless shiney visuals that I don't want anyway and that use system resources or flat out annoying additions.

I wasn't really interested in it but someone has pointed out that I could get a cheap OEM version of Fista if I buy it with the bits I'm going to use to upgrade my PC soon, as I would qualify as a system builder. Anyone know anything about this, are there limitations?

It would be a good opportunity to get a cheap legal copy, even if I don't use it as my main OS right away.

Yeah, I seen something about this with XP a while ago. If you buy something that is needed to use a PC then you can get an OEM copy. So you could technically buy the cheapest mouse possible and then save loads compared to a retail copy.
