There's also a mod out for the game called ETPro. This mod is generally geared toward those who play the game in competitions, but a good chunk of servers out there utilize it due to the "more comprehensive" gaming experience. Some of the features include saving your XP on a server so you'll get it back when you reconnect, shoving players in your way, and a whole bunch of crap I can't even remember.

I dare say the ETPro site is at:

And some useful information from n00bt00b to add to the mix.
The best place to get it from is here:

http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041 ... name=files

they also have maps on there too, and the DL is quick.

You'll want to get the 1.02 patch as well, as hardly anyone will be playing vanilla I would have thought.

The competition mod is called ETPro, and this is the mod most people use for public servers, it gets updated quite often and its got some good anticheat stuff in addition to the Punkbuster support, so hax are quite rare

The ingame server browser is a little bit bobbins, but http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html is a good bit of kit to help you find a server. Its a trial, but lifetime subscription is pretty cheap and it's ruthlessly efficient

If you want my config file + some other goodies you can find them here: http://users.ox.ac.uk/~scat1763/Saigoncfg.zip

Another vaguely useful place is the forums @ www.forumplanet.com/planetwolfenstein
Good stuff!
