CF card corrupting? Eek, help!

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

CF card corrupting? Eek, help!

Post by Sol »

Good evening peoples, i just got back from a hard days work of pissing about with my 400D with a friend (we took about 500 or so piccys) and i go to upload the pictures from the card onto my friend's pc through his card reader, and i get this:

Image

I then take it home, try it in my pc's reader and get the very same message.

I put the card back in the camera, try uploading the pictures through the usb cable and it tells me there is nothing on there.

...Now, the pictures show up on the camera, and i can view them on there, but i suddenly cannot take any new ones. The strange thing is the CF card still works fine as a storage device.

For reference the card is a pqi hi-speed 100 2gb CF, and i'm a bit miffed as it cost a fair bit... From an ebay seller (yay, i can't take it back) and i've had it for three months now and it hasn't played up at all until now. What the fuck is going on?

Anyone had any similar problems or is willing to help shed light on the matter?

:(

right, after trying a few of the data recovery things, i have yet to find one that you dont have to pay for and works.

:/

Anyone seen anything on the floor, or know a free one that does it's job? the one berk linked to worked fine until it said: GIVE US MONEYS, K, THX.

I managed to recover the photos :)

Now, the card still doesn't work obviuously, so a reformat is in order?

Reformatted the card inside the camera, everything is back to normal. Panic over gentlemen, panic over. Cheers for the help, greatly appriecated.
