Since 2 days or so, my computer has difficulties starting up. Everytime i turn it on, he restarts at about 1.20 min. (sometimes sooner) It's utterly frustrating, to say the least I tried system repair point (or whatever it's called in english, my windows is dutch) but he fails to do so. Anyone else ever had this problem and if so, how did you solve it? I believe it to be a virus, although i am not certain of anything, due to my lack of windows knowledge.
ps: i can manage to keep it from restarting by pressing the restart button before he resets himself. This doesn't always work, and it's rather unhealthy for my pc.
Thanks in advance,
Mr. Johnson, Oryctologist.
the Johnson computer is acting funny.

For starters you could try the tools in this thread to scan you PC for nasty things: http://www.5punk.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=884
It could be a hardware problem, something is broke or getting too hot. Open up the case and check all the fans are running and clean out the dust.

Sounds like it could be the MSblaster virus, that resets after a sort of random amount of time. I had that a while ago, but it's old and I expect any hlaf decent virus scanner would pick it up.

While it's behaving you should run all of the usual cleaners and checkers to be on the safe side: A good anti-virus scanner, Ad-aware and maybe A-Squared.Mr. Johnson wrote:a format does seem like a good solution for my problem. it did however stop doing crazy things (for now...)
If you haven't already.
