Armed Assault (sequelish to Op Flashpoint)

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Looks like Armed Assault has been released in other countries, unfortunately not available here yet, but there are hints of online distro and foreign to english patches.

All remains to be seen mostly.

ArmA is the sequel to Operation Flashpoint, written by Bohemia Interactive Studios. However, Codemasters own the rights to the name and hence it's called Armed Assault. It takes a good chunk of the development from their commercial military simulation software VBS1 that's used by the USMC and soon the RM here in the UK, and throws it back into the game market from where OPF first came. Future development of a fully fledged battlefield simulator (known only as Game 2 at the moment) is the next step.

Due to there being a number of different publishers though, it's being released at different times across the world. Th Czech and German versions are out already, English demo to follow shortly, and the proper English version will be out in Feb 07, published by 505, and possibly with some sweeteners thrown in to mollify those of us who have had to wait.

However, the modding community from OPF is already at work and early attempts show that the OFP mods can be ported across without too much difficulty, so expect rapid expansion of this game over the next few months. Personally, I'm waiting for the English version since at least by then a lot of the bugs should have been ironed out.

It definately looks good, but apparently it's been recieving bad press from OFP fans. Still, as long as it doesn't have a player base that is so madded to fuck that every server required a combination of hundereds of unneccesary mods (like OFP) then i'll certainly be playing it

Well I bought the German version.I came, I patched...I lanuage patched!

Its pretty funny because the only things that are German as the mission briefings and the news reports things all the soldier talk is English(Americism) with German subtitles that I cant get rid off :(

On to the game.. .wowweeee!

AI is great! Graphics are beyond great uhhh its just umm GREAT YARR! and 100 people multiplayer FTW (Although I found multi is rather boring with Co-op since you're waiting a lot for everyone to die... but you can fly around as a seagull!)
