We've been over this before.

American English is much more like old English than British English is.

Basically they fucked off using English, we stole lots of quirks of European languages to make us look smarter. They kept old English and developed it a bit.

As such we come out the other end with a less English English and look smarter for using extra letters and swapping the ends of words about a bit.

bzzt! Berk Errorz again!

Actually, american english has just as many 'europeanisms' as British english, possibly more. This was caused by the fact that america is actually populated by a mix of different european races, not just the british. For example, "ranch" originated from mexican spanish, and 'cookie' from...er, danish, iirc.

Also, the differing spellings, by and large, came from a conscious effort by america to distance itself from its european roots. Its the same reason they drive on the other side of the road to us. They basically thought "well shit, if they do it that way, we have to do it the other way! yeah, how independant are we?!"

kinda reminds me of teenagers rebelling against their parents

On the subject of Americans and their funny ways (may have told this story before):

We were in Miami trying to find a famous outdoor swimming pool/fake lagoon that's filled with a local spring and we stopped for directions. We were told to go in a direction until you get to a "weird circle in the road", then turn left or whatever. I was expecting a circular monument on a traffic island between lanes, but when we approached it became obvious he was referring to a roundabout ...

Nickface wrote:Well, speaking as an American Tea drinker, I go for Bigelow's Green Tea with Lemon
EDIT: Oh, and heating up that Arizona Green Tea is freaking good as well.
Just tried Bigelow's GREEN Earl Grey...strong flower/wet grass smell to it lol...after i got past the scent...i think i put a tad too much sugar in it...so will have to experiment again...19 bags to go...will try Bigelow Green w/lemon next then onto Twinings.

Was drinking Lipton's Green Tea Mandarin Orange Flavor which is good with some sugar but there's gotta be something better than U.S. Mass-Produced Lipton tea!

And nuked Arizona tea is good :)

I always go for a fruity taste in tea. There's something about it with just a little honey that's ffffanfuckingtastic.

Earl Grey is good too, though. I haven't tried it with milk yet. :/

Tea is my relaxation/I'm sick drink. And caffeine dehydrates, so tea is my way of making a cold more bearable.
Coffee is GETTHEFUCKUPVRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOM morning drink.

And, as Roman said, this tea is fabulous. :3
