I think a fairly large amount that the reviewer didn't understand was down to the fact you do get used to it after a while. Maybe not the best thing for getting new people but? Ehh..

Although, what was said about putting up our reviews to be looked at by other sites, made me have another idea. How about a subforum called "News", where we can just post links to latest news, and give our opinions on it?

cud it possibly be a good idea to have frames holding the links and title on the page? I did something like that for a website i designed for a family business, i think its a good idea as it decreases loading times while holding the buttons and the such in the same place wherever you are on the site.

Yeah this is what I think I'm gonna go with, and I'm playing around with a portal at the moment, and stripping it down to the bare minimum of what we want.

Have a look at this page http://www.5punk.co.uk/index.php

If I can get all the buttons on the top of the page, and then the forum to appear underneath, then this would probably make things a lot easier, and more dynamic.

What I don't want is for 5punk to look like every other portal/forum on the net.

GNNNNNNNNHHHHHH! So much stuff!

Not wanting to sound overly negative, but I cant really see anything there that we dont already have, just in a layout I like considerably less :?

After the initial shock it's something that I could get used to and I like the idea.

I don't think it brings a whole lot, but the layout of the menus and some of the information it gives is nice. Modify it to look like the rest of the forum and integrate the TS window and I think it'll be as good as the current front page. If we use the image gallery (I like this) and the shoutbox and chatroom (I'm meh about these) and I think it'll be an improvement. The big selling point for me would be if it could be made to seamlessly fit the site's theme.

I thought it looked pretty well. There's probably a few bumps that need to be sorted still, I'm sure.

It is a bit too busy, I like the un-cluttered style of 5punk and I think that's a bit too much like every other site where you spend 5 minutes just looking for the 'Forum' link.

It is too busy now but I'm assuming that it's going to be toned down a bit for our purposes.

Yeah, I'd like to think this. :above: .

Although I like the inclusion of ROBO, horse and "hump" pictures :)

Ermmm, this is a default install, and like I said, I'm gonna strip it down to bare minimum, but the point is to integrate the site into the forums user accounts and so on, and provide us with an easy way to put posts on the front page or create news articles with relevant links and so on...

It will look "nothing" like it does now, I plan on removing most of it bar the stats, user section, and links.

There are lots of extra "addons" people have made that may be wroth using as well.

aaaaaaaaaaaah, fair enough. So that is more a base for you to be able to build more useful nice bits on? Now I understand.

Looking good.

Comparing a base phpBB install to how 5punk looks now gives you an idea of how it can be used well for us.

Edit: I like this page: http://www.5punk.co.uk/phpbb/viewonline.php is there any way a sort of live updatey version could show on the front page, so people could see activity at a glance?
