Perpetual motion

Post by Grimmie »

Just thought I'd share a little gem with you all that I like to mess around with on gary's mod. This works with practically everything that can be raised more than 30 metres off the ground successfully. (The body of a strider, a giant metal horse etc) but for this instance, I used Dr. Breen!

Grab the RPG after suspending something mid-air and set it to Fast. Begin firing. There are two ways to achieve perpetual motion. The first is trying to corkscrew a number of shots (20+) around the target once or twice, before resting the crosshair somewhere in the middle. Anything from 1 to 10 of the rockets wil miss the target and turn around for another try, always missing the angle of re-entry by a few milimeters. Seeing as they constantly then try and re-assess their trajectory, you get them adjusting their corse by a centimetre of two every milisecond, causing them to fall into a never-ending spiral about the object. Lasts for hours!

The tecnique I used here, was to dange breen by the body, and aim at his wobbling arm. But only just. The crosshair laid neatly upon the very edge of his arm, I fired off about 50 missiles and waited for them to slowly loop back (having been fired through the tiny gap, and then targeted the arm from behind). With a few swift fliks of my mouse here and there, I was able to achieve three patterns.

A circle. (<a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/ ... ">Here.</a>)
A sphere (<a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/ ... ">Here.</a>)
And a cross (<a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/ ... ">Here.</a>)

Amongst other shapes.
Can I see your attempts?

(PS. The cross was VERY impressive in motion. Both the horizontal and vertical axis were shifting from left to right, up and down in unison.)
