Photoshop colour modes

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Photoshop colour modes

Post by spoodie »

This is probably quite a noob question so hopefully easy to answer but it's had me stumped for a while:

I open up a greyscale picture in Photoshop, it says "(Grey/8 )" in the title bar and I can't use anything other than greyscale colours and none of the filters work. Fair enough I suppose, I'm limited to certain colours with this image as it was originally black and white. But how do I change the graphics mode from "(Grey/8 )" to something that will allow he to add colours, use filters or add layers with more colours?

Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. :?

Same here, even Rob Manuel himself didn't know how to do it, he suggested creating a new image the same size, and pasting it in.

Silly really as this is one of the easiest things to do in the world with Paint Shop Pro

Well I'm glad it's not just me then. PSP is mostly easier to use but the results are rarely as good, which is why I switched.
