BF2142 problems

Post by Dog Pants »

Here's what I've encountered so far. Anyone else? Or anyone had different problems? Or anyone any suggestions as to how to fix something? Post 'em here!

Connection problems:
Sometimes after trying to connect through X-fire, and occasionally through the BEEFbrowser, I get a message stating simply ERROR (cue Ro-Bo). After that I just can't connect to anything. What's more, more often than not my entire internet connection falls over. Sometimes flipping the power on my router gets me back online but I don't recall ever getting back onto a BF server any time soon afterwards, just a no connection message. I've not found a solution to this, I usually just give up.

Rank not updating
Apparently this manifests itself in quite a few different ways, and most can be fixed by logging onto a different ranked server, or by logging out and back in. In my case (as seen in the screenshots thread) I can still gain points and they still get added to my score as far as I can tell, but I'm not ranking up. Any awards I win seem to be kept too, although I might just not have noticed that nothing's happened 'cos I've not really been putting the effort in since this has happened. Occasionally I'll finish a round and it'll show me as a rookie again and I won't get anything I've earned that round, but oddly enough most (but not all) of the time I'll have played with my unlocks for the round. All seems very random really, but rather irritating.

this also exists in BF2, it's just overloaded stats servers not updating so often, the trick with BF2 was to exit the game, wait 20 mins and play on another ranked server, getting a few kills and hoping.

Yeah, that's what EA said too. I've had this problem since yesterday morning though and on about four severs. There's summat more amiss here, although apparently :above: does work in a good many cases.

I've only try to join through xfire once and it failed because the player was not actually on a server just had the game running, but xfire had failed to recognise this yet. Most of the time I use the buddy feature which mostly works.

What Berk said. It has happened to me with a few of my promotions, Berk's solution works.

Similarly...

Next Rank: First Sergeant
100%
Score: 20,037 of 20,000. At your historical rate, you should earn in days (or 00:00:00 straight).

You might have problems connecting on some servers today, i think the servers are all being patched.

I've had the RO-BO Error message loads of times when i've clicked on a random server, I've been punkbuster kicked for no reason, more crash to desktops then you can shake a stick at.

The maps do load slightly faster then Beef 2 though, which is nice.
