My feeble attempt to explain the new Leadership skills

Post by Wiggy »

Right.

As it stands at the moment, anyone can form a gang. You barrel around in your gang and have a load of fun, whoever has the highest level of a particular gang skill shares it amongst the gang, and everyone's happy.

Not any more.

With Kali (now called Revelations) there are a new set of gang skills. Those who have been on already may have noticed that your Squadron Command skill has disappeared, to be replaced with a skill called Warfare Link Specialist. This is the same skill, it does the same thing, and the prerequisite for your lovely Command Ship has been changed to suit. Two new skills have been seeded alongside the Leadership skill; Wing Command and Fleet Command.

Leadership will allow command of a Squadron. Level 1 gives you command of 2 members, level 5 will give you command of 10 members. This is a rank 1 skill, so relatively easy to train.

Wing Command will allow you to take command of a number of Squadrons, one per level of the skill to a maximum of 5. Rank 8 skill, requires Leadership level 5.

Fleet Command, again, allows command of up to 5 Wings, one per level. Rank 12 skill (ugh), requires Wing Command 5 as a prerequisite (double ugh). Training to level 5 will give you command of up to 250 people (5 Wings, each containing 5 Squadrons of 10 people).

Hope that made sense, because it gets interesting here. Gang skills.

If you are in a Squadron, and you have gang skills, they will be passed on to the people in your Squadron. If you are a Wing Commander, and you have skills, all the people in your Wing will benefit. If you are a Fleet Commander, the whole fleet benefits. Got it? No? Fine.

Oh, and just to put your minds at ease, if you want to form a gang, and no-one has any Leadership skills, you may still form a gang, but no-one will benefit from any gang skills that any of you might have.

My brain hurts, I need to go and have a lie down.

Thank goodness 5punk isn't that big! If we have all the directors train up a bit on the leadership skill, we'll be fine. Most don't have too many skills to pass on to others except director level peeps. We'll need a few select peeps to get a wing command level or two, but shouldn't be needed to level 5 except as a pre-req for commandy ships, which might drop a bit in price now that it seems there will be more time needed for the skills, which may affect the demand a bit.

If that is the case about demand on them, hopefully the BS market will benefit!

maybe... one window with only chatter in your squadron showing with coloured text for the wing leader and fleet commander that goes into all squadrons' gang windows... if that makes sense.
