albatross18.com online golf game

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

Anyone ever tried the "pangya" based free online golf game?

http://www.albatross18.com/season2/

This release seems to be the latest one, with pangya.com being the original (I think, I don't really know the history of the game)

Might be worth a look, as I could see us all playing a free online golf game together (whilst on TeamSpeak) being great fun.

Just imagine Bobbins shouting "HORSES" at you as you take your shot, or Berk giving birth to a new swear word as he hits the ball into a bunker.

Won't be able to try it out tonight (in-laws are staying round), but if anyone fancies giving it a go and finding out if it's any good, then that would be great.

Silly jumpers and long socks are optional

5punk Ryder Cup FTW! Europe Vs America.

Might be a bit one sided though.

EDIT: Played the turorial and it plays okay. As with Gunbound though I'm scared of the happy clappy people I have to play with, so I'm going to wait for some 5punkers.

It looks a bit familiar - is it mk 2 of another korean web golf game that was advertised all over the place not long ago?

Possibly. It does say 'season 2' on it and is very oriental in flavour. It plays nice though, I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Yeah I think Pangya was the original one, then albatross18, and now this is the latst version of it.

Free games are good for 5punk, especially during big nights such as the 5punk B'Day bash recently, where it was hard work all playing one game together online.

Well I just tried this out, and I have to say, for a free game, it's actually rather good.

Okay, it's no EA Tiger Woods release, but then again it seems fun to play, and the controls are simple, and everything is easy to use.

If you have ever played "Everybody's Golf" then you will feel right at home, as it's basically the same, but not quite so good.

Personally I can't wait to put on some silly clothes and whack a ball about with a stick. FOUR!!!

It looks like bunny ears and doe eyes are compulsory, though.

http://www.5punk.co.uk/downloads/GAMES/ ... p_300b.exe

You need to register an account to play, and Xfire supports this through messaging only, not "one click join".

This means we need to all join the same server when logging into the game, but with xfire/teamspeak this should be easy enough to organise.

When launching the game for the first time it auto patches itself, and this took about 5 mins for me.

The tutorial is worth watching, if only to understand the controls, but once you've played a few holes, it's dead simple.

I've added the game to the 5cheduler, so that people can schedule games.

If you want practice but don't want to meet the scary population yet you can play a family game against yourself. That's what I did anyway. I'm looking forward to a 5punky game when I'm back from the LAN.

Oh, and it's 'fore', not 'four'.

i played a few games last night with just general people on there, and they all seemed really nice, and 98% of them where actually really mature.
probably just me getting lucky

also yes, do the tutorial, it helps quite alot and you get a free caddy at the end :)

I've not actually tried yet - I was so disturbed by Gunbound that I didn't want to go through it again.

I have played a few holes, and bought an exploding golf ball and a hat.

Some of the holes are right bastards, and there are quite a few tricks I haven't quite worked out yet.

Predictably I'm FatherJack, don't know if people have to be online for buddy requests to work, but post your names here anyway.

Woo! Because it's halloween you get a free jackolantern hat (extra points per game until nov 2nd) and some groovy pumpkin balls.

I also just found out that the speed at which the arrow spins is the strength of the wind. Learn something new every day...
