also, the hamandcheese network is full now, so there.

What i'm thinking is

The tracker could connect to multiple hamachi networks,

The users would have to use a DHT enabled client and allow it to talk on both (real and hamachi) networks (basically just keeping hawking and the paranoid/those using servers to seed stealthed)

Lot better since i last saw it, any chance of a comments or more info section for requests.

for example, if someone requests say. the prisoner, i could either upload 5 dvds, or dvd rips, depending what people want.

also, fucking *HUGE* list of offers incoming :)

Does that mean it's problem running multiple boxes? I have a few so I can continue seeding when some boxes are performing other functions (gaming, burning) which would degrade either function.

Perhaps I'm overly polite, but I really hate having to stop a seed when there are people downloading.

Sort of, but as it is, i think it's better to have the network full and work out good workarounds (such as the multiple nets to keep the tracker and servers stealthed with DHT for cross-network sharing)

you are too polite ;)

remember that if there's 2 people on a torrent they'll be able to feed themselves for a while too, depending on size

why not just pay for a 256 member hamachi network?
its not very expensive.
I dont mind buying one if need be.

On another note, the email function should work again now.

Unless i'm mistaken, hamachi allows 16 free members, and 256 premium members per network, so it could get very pricey very quickly.

yeah it's not the network, it's the users. We'd have to all pay the money hats.

ok then fuck that.

plan B:
the server is now joined to a few networks:
TorrentOf5punk
TorrentOf5punk2
TorrentOf5punk3
TorrentOf5punk4

usual password for all.

TorrentOf5punk is full now.
Anyone who isnt already a member, please use TorrentOf5punk2
When thats full, we can use TorrentOf5punk3 etc.

Notes from berk:
You only need to be a member of one network. if you are already on TorrentOf5punk, dont join TorrentOf5punk2 etc.
Use a DHT (Distributed Hash Table) enabled client. Most of the good ones do, like utorrent or azereus. This allows everybody to cross-talk.

We think it will all work fine! everybody cross fingers and cocks etc

Another note:

this is all purely theory and testing - it *should* work.

maybe.

Though don't be too shocked if it doesn't

I'm using the ABC client you posted earlier - Azureus craps out after a few meg, and μTorrent had trouble talking to the tracker.

Had a few successes, both from internal testing and remote, yet to see about other networks - I have 'em tied to my Ham & Cheese IP.

Im going to give the ABC client a go, as it sounds like im having the same problem as father jack. Just to check, though:

When I have something to seed, it only seems to seed for a few meg, then stops. Downloading works fine, and all the non 5punk torrents work fine both ways. Just in case ABC doesnt fix it, any ideas whats wrong with it?

Is there a way to remove a request once it's been done?, or at least show the request as 'Completed' or something?

Once I've had chance to test this out, think about it for a while, and so on, I'll probably tidy up this thread's replies (after speaking to Prof/Berk) and sticky it.

Also a PM'd password from above mentioned chaps would be lovely thanks :)

Updates:

It seems enabling DHT lets loadsa randoms leech our torrents. this is bad.

We have options, but i need to talk to prof to decide what to do.

I havent had any problems with leechers, yet, and my torrents are DHT'd to allow access from the other hamachi networks. I imagine you've already discussed it but I'll suggest using a VPN anyway, doable?
