Keyboard recommendations?

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Keyboard recommendations?

Post by deject »

Do any of you people have keyboard recommendations? I'd like to replace my mouse + keyboard since they're getting old and they're wireless. The mouse does some weird things somewhat frequently, and the keyboard sometimes just goes to shit, although it is pretty rare.

I'm probably looking at getting either a Logitech G3 or G5 but as for the keyboard I really don't know what to get. It can't be very wide though, because I need to fit my mouse on the same space, and it isn't very huge.

I know this probably doesn't fit your requirements, but I have two friends with Zboards and they just love them to death. The whole keyset thing is pretty neat, but I'm not about to plunk that kind of cash down for a keyboard.

I can't seem to find one at my usual stores. Got a link for it? google doesn't count.

right, I'm fucking blind. also, I forgot to mention I really really want multimedia control keys because I've gotten used to them, and while I could live without them I'd rather not.

AVOID Z-Board!

They are really not worth it. I have one with a few game key-sets. Completely pointless. Some people might find purpose with them if they play a particular game more than any other, but if you swap and change your games, the pissing about with key-sets and downloading the pre-sets is a royal pain in the arse.

Just buy a simple Logitech and enjoy :)

Seriously; don't buy a Z-Board.

I went to PC world and got the cheapest smallest keyboard I could find (small is good imo). It's a light aluminium covered number and I really rather like it. Cost about 10 quid.

I used to swear by Logitech for all peripherals but the last keyboard I bought was the most basic one I could find from a decent manufacturer, in this case being Cherry. I really wanted to avoid multimedia keys.

There's lots of small footprint keyboards on their website, with or without the extra keys: http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/compact/compact.htm

EDIT: Oh and the G5 is an excellent mouse. If you can afford it get one, or the G7.
