I've been playing it too for most of yesterday and I agree, it's ace! Reminds me of Ground Control in that you only get the Mechs you start the mission with (unless you manage to salvage a working one off the battlefield). Tactical, rather than economic (which most RTSs are IMHO). I particularly like the mine layers.
