Configs..

been a while since I played most of the source games and have no configs etc - is there a thread anywhere for these?

And I'm bone idle which is why I never searched

Oh and a noob server for CS Source virgins would be nice as well

Depends what you mean by configs. I/we can help with configuring some key binds to make buying stuff quicker when you start each round and there's a useful config change that stops the downloading of those fucking stupid "DOMINATING!!", etc. sound samples. That's all I've used. This is for CSS btw.

I don't know of any servers for noobs, they all seem to have whores of some description playing on them. You'll have to do a search in the browser for "noobs" or something.

As for configs, here's what I use.
Put this in the file or create a new file at C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\[email or login ID]\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\autoexec.cfg (or whatever the location of your game files)

Then add this to your config.cfg in the same place above and remove any duplicates for the same key binds or it might get confused. Putting it at the end of the file will probably be enough but if they don't work make sure there's no duplicates:

Then you can select some of the weapons with your numeric pad and the keys above your arrows rather than going through the menu. The first file sets up aliases for all the weapons that can then be called in the second config file so you can change binds with less typing. Obviously you can change all this to your hearts content but you really have to take a read through it so you understand what's happening. I think it's fairly easy to get the gist of it but feel free to ask for more help.

The ones where there's 2 weapons are team specific, so you only get one of them

also as a suggestion for learning all your binds, get a picture of a keyboard layout (I use this because it's pretty) and replace all the key labels with what the weapon binds are so you end up with something like

which you can print out and have handy

What I like about my method is that you automatically get defusal kit with all purchases, if required. It is a little complicated but I work in IT

Also it still needs some work but I don't play much now so meh

Thanks peeps but it will have to wait - had my winblows HD die on me

I could use the secondry but would mean formatting a partition with 30 gigs of data on it

So no gaming for me until I can replace the drive next week - just lucky I got my laptop for the 'net really...
