This forum needs renaming

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

Instead of Half-Life 2, it needs to either be Valve/Steam/Source...

Which one do you prefer, as I think this is necessary when you consider HL2, CS:S, DOD:S & TF will all fit into this forum?

Steam.

Because it covers all valve stuff and anything released over steam.

Officially it is the "Valve Source Engine"

I voted for source...

But narf I prefer what it is now (that should maybe be an option?). It made sense to me instantly the first time i saw it.

Alternatives would be

"HL2 / DOD / CS:S / etc" or something along those lines?

yeah, it isn'tlimiting it to source based games or valve games since there are a lot of different games coming from steam.

I think Steam as it will cover more things, without becoming another Other Games forum. Although there are a fair few games available from it, theres only a handful which actually get talked about here.

but wasnt the reason its called half life l2 at the mo because nobody talked about the original half life and mods? naming the forum after the dev team sounds a bit retarded in my opinion, so i went for sauce

STEEAAAM! it is what comes out of your kettle when you make cups of tea and or coffee and it is also fitting because it is used for all of the games made by valve

"Steam" includes games that aren't even FPSes, ie: Darwinia and Rag Doll Kung Fu. However this also applies to "Source" now that Dark Messiah is to use it, plus "Source" excludes all the older games. "Valve" also excludes other games such as SiN Episodes, and it's by no means certain they will make only FPSes forever, either.

"Steam" or "Steam-powered" is the closest, if we're prepared to allow some non-FPS discussion in here, and a note that if Dark Messiah is as good as it promises then discussion for that could be included here, although with Ep2, Portal and TF2 there's plenty of life as it is.

Personally I feel steam is the ideal title. (I basically typed the same as fatherjack did earlier, but couldn't be arsed to post)

It covers what's already in here (given I split steam content 50/50 between here and other games anyway)

I'm quite happy to moderate it as an all out steam section too.

*tidies stuff up anyway*

I'm fine with it being called Half Life 2. If anything I'd name it Valve Games (even though mods aren't technically made by Valve they're based on Valve games...) rather than Steam. Steam makes me think of the program that has pissed me off royally in the past rather than all the awesome games.

I think we should call it the RO-BO Forum.
