5unkbeef Map Cycle and stuff

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Thoughts on the 5punk server so far?

Personally i'd like to remove wake (or set it infantry only) and perhaps time limit rounds (to 45 mins i think)

any thoughts on this will be added to a poll later probably.

Really just say how you feel about stuff on a whole, it'll help us make it a better server :)

Personially, Wake Island is my favourite map. I would be somewhat disapointed to know that it was removed from it.

That :above:

Wake or Karkand should be at top of the list for server-getting-going-ness.

Would like to see Kubra go, nasty map is that.

Appart from that the server is great. :-)

Needs more Dalian, Daquing* and Zatar.

Kharkand and Sharqi >< , Mashtuur's usually over before I can connect, Oman always goes on too long, Wake is okay, but a bit repetitive.

* not even in the existing list

I don't care for Kubra Dam at all, it's fun for messing about with planes but once a game starts I don't like it (especially since when a game starts we'll only have 10 people).

Wake Island is my least favourite map, but once again, I like it for messing about with planes.

I like Wake. Yes, it's a jet whores paradise, but it is large enough to allow for a decent round (dodging jets).

Other than that, I would like a more open map rotation, I am getting bored of the same old maps (I am entirely sick of Karkand) as such, I am playing less and less Beef these days.

I realise we need to get the popular maps going. However, I was watching the chat on BF2CC tonight and there was more than one 'oh god, it's always Karkand' comment from the non-5punkers.

And, I think we really need to learn to follow our own rules; it doesn't happen often, but sometimes we seem to taking the attitude that 'it's our server, we can do what we want'. We set the rules for a reason: baseraping, kicking for personal reasons, and generally lording it over other players might well ruin the 5punk servers' fun attitude.

Some twat whoring the attack chopper is annoying for sure, but if you were kicked on any other server for simply being a good pilot/gunner combo I suspect you would feel (rightly) pissed off.

It's only a game troops ;)

:above: This

I would like to see Wake set on infantry only (as it may give the USMC a better chance at establishing a foothold) just don't get rid of it, pleeease.

Also, the server welcome message needs to be sorted out a bit. The last part about commanders not flying is cut out.

I think starting on Karkand is usually a good thing for getting started, but maybe switch out of it quickly. Personally I like Wake but I haven't played it that much. Maybe infantry only might be worth a try - you can always air-whore on Gulf. Mashtuur seems quite fun and underused, although it seems like it can easily become a whitewash with one good squad in a helicopter.

Also, what Sheriff said about the server rules is very true. I've been meaning to start a thread about this because I've noticed it too. If people (and I don't mean anyone in specific because I can't remember any particular offender off the top of my head) keep abusing admin rights then eventually people will stop using the server and we've wasted our money (or more importantly I've wasted my money). People should get several warnings before being kicked, through chat first and then through admin. When or if they are kicked there should be a valid reason stated so that other players know why it was done. If someone has a grievance against us and we're in the right explain why we are right. If we're in the wrong then stop doing it.

Which server have you been playing on? :?

We obviously all have different experiences and favourites as far as maps are concerned. Personally I prefer as much variety as possible, starting on Karkland (or whatever map attracts people) is a good idea but what about then switching to Daqing Oilfields, Operation Clean Sweep or Songhua Stalemate straight after? I'm not saying they're good just that I havent played them in quite a while.

I propose moving FuShe Pass way up in the map cycle. It rocks hard. Also I think putting Wake Island in infantry only mode would be a very good idea.
