KOTOR 2
The sequel to the best Star Wars game ever, KOTOR 2 is pretty much more of the same. Anyone who liked the original will probably like this one too. This time around there's more customization to do, can be fun or a drag depending on what your preferences are. I was just kind of surprised at how much shit you gather though. By the end of the game, I had to scoll for ages to get to the end of my inventory, even though I had periodically sold of huge portions of it. It's always great fun when you cast horse Storm and it takes out 10 goons instantly. I laughed for about 30 seconds straight. That being said, the boss battles seem to be easier, indeed the whole game seems a bit easier. The only encounter I had to do over was the one where the ugly dudes take over your ship.
Also, I fucking hate the Kreia bitch. I really really really really wanted to kill her so many times during the game, but since I was going uber-Light Side I had to refrain. spoilers: I was right about that damn bitch, she fucking kills all the Jdei Masters! ARGH! I really really hate her. I'm so glad you get to kill her at the end of the game.

I loved the first KOTOR game - played through it about 4 times. I always play uber-good first time round, then have immense fun being evil the next time.
Like you said with KOTOR 2 though, it's too similar to the first one. For me, there just wan't anything to keep me going back and continue playing once I'd completed it.

I love both games, the second one was way too easy though, once you max out horse lightening you're mostly unstoppable. I really like the aspect of turning your companions into Jedis in the 2nd one, but I think in general the characters are much better in the 1st one, Bastilla and Carth for example, much better than those losers in KOTOR2

the fairly constant leveling up and all the stats didn't tip you off?friznit wrote:
umm, ok. not strong on genre recognition.
and yeah Roman, I probably won't play it again, unlike the original which I played at least 5 times. The lack of conversation with your team is kind of disheartening. In the original, you could usually get back on your ship and talk with everyone about their particular story, but in 2 you could talk about everything in almost everything one go.

The creators of the original went off and made Jade Empire, which shows (at least on my XBox version) in occasionally ropey graphics for Kotor2, most noticable in the bit with the unbreathable atmosphere bar.
I still enjoyed it, but not as much as the first, and it was quite easy. The story didn't grab me as much, and the characters irritated me.

KOTOR 2 is actually incomplete. It's missing a large part of it's dialogue and scenes, inclding whole levels of material. There's a fan site dedicated to filling in the gaps in the game somewhere. I'll see if I can dig out the link:
http://www.team-gizka.org/
That's the homepage for the site. Some of it is already completed.

that makes sense. It always seemed like there was bits missing. I spent ages in one place trying to get into a room that I could see on the radar, but there was no way in.Lethe wrote:KOTOR 2 is actually incomplete. And yes, it does use the full on AD&D d20 system, but cunningly hidden. Its actually all there, you just dont realise it. More RPG's should be done like this.
