Well these 3 sites seem to be recommended, however not a single one of them seems to use wooden staircases and glass steps.

It's always metal staircase, glass steps, OR wooden staircase/steps, glass panels.

These 3 come up in an article I read about installing glass steps, where the woman went onto explain that this type of work might require an architect, but obviously that would cost a lot more money.

Personally I would get a good carpenter in to price up making a wooden staircase (with just edges for the steps to sit on) and then speak to the 3rd option above to find out if they can make thick glass to the custom size you require (which it looks like they do).

How would the steps fix to the wood? Is there a reason wooden staircases never have glass steps?

Other than the obvious glass+metal = shiney/modern could it be some kind of building regulation that doesn't allow glass steps on wooden staircases due to the wood being able to expand, move, settle etc....?

Good luck, I'll have a little bit more fo a look, but I doubt very much if I can find anything that would warrant a tenner

P.S. What effect are you after on the staircase? I assume you want it to feel open and not enclosed, hence going for glass?

There is always this sort of thing which gets the same effect and look squite dramatic if you ask me, as the glass panels are there for saftey, but the whole thing looks like it's floating.



Obviously you need some pretty good walls to do this sort of thing

I honestly have no idea, my dad asked me to find some for a customer of his, i can't be arsed so i'm outsourcing and saving effort
