stat padders
Never thought i'd see such dirty stat padding on lanarchy last night.
two guys 'Team-ff.|kn0ck' and 'team-ff.|pwned.rofl' were out to ruin everyones fun. when i first joined the game, the duo were camping at the spawn points at the 'tv station' on shariq with no intention of trying to capture the flag.
In the next round at karkand, the first guy 'Team-ff.|k0ck' was on my team following me around as a medic whilst his clan mate 'team-ff.|pwned.rofl' playing for the opposition waited for me at the train wreckage flag. Thats when the killjoy began. First 'team-ff.|pwned.rofl' killed me, then 'Team-ff.|kn0ck' revived me, and so it carried on...
knife kill, revived, knife kill, revived, knife kill, revived ....
it looked like these cupcake-sticks were prepared to keep doing this for the duration of the round so i decided to leave.
heres their bf2stats profiles

the first guy looks like a blatent stat padder, ranked as a private but obtaining a knife/medic badge as the first of his awards.
I really hope we don't see any more cupcake-stick stat padders about.

Well I got another badge last night: Veteran Special Ops
And I think that was after my game crashed and I logged back in with no unlocks. Also found a great spot for grenade spamming; below the square in Karkand, bounce the nades off the building so they drop on to the flag. I got 3 people with 3 nades, w00t!

I mean, I see the awards as a kind of progress report. I don't just go out specifically to get them. If you're going to do something just to collect badges you might as well join the Evil Little Hitler Orginisation For Young Women
Well I went through a couple of weeks of collecting badges deliberately. I find that when there isn't a mass of 5punkers to play with, it can add some structure of sorts to your game which I personally quite liked. However, its also a pleasant suprise to get a badge you weren't expecting. I'm still to get my basic explosives one, but I may work on that tonight. Its a hard one to get!

I was on a server once with some stats padders who were doing something similar. I think it was a group of 3, as you could see them way off away from the actions, one guy would get knifed, the other guy would revive him and so on. It was blatantly obvious to everyone playing because the top was just scrolling along with the knife kills. At the end of the round, the knifer and the medic had the gold and the silver and had about 200 points more than anyone else.
I was pissed enough and I took screenshots and stuff and posted them on one of those sites that supposedly helps address the problem. For all the official bullshit I had to put up with, last time I checked the same guys were still carrying on with the same asshattery. I have heard stories about padders gettting their stats wiped, but with this real world example, it's pretty obvious that EA doesn't give two shits about whether you do or not.

I guess they just want all the badges so it looks good on their enormous signatures. It's a problem for them that most servers won't start a game until there are quite a few players, so a couple of stat padders can't just go at it on an unpopulated server and not piss anyone off. I'm guessing they don't have enough like-minded buddies to get a server started by themselves.Dog Pants wrote:I don't get the point in stat padding. Am I missing something?

So, while it's annoying if they do it in other people's games, it's the game that's forcing them onto a populated server. I kind of don't want to be too damning of the practice though, as if there was (for example) a 5punk Only server, I can forsee quite a number of knife, fork and other cutlery badges being earned.
Exactly. It horses you to use a skill/weapon/class you normally wouldn't, and therefore become better at it. Its good to be able to use all of the kits cos then you can join a squad which may be missing a skill/class and do better as a group.spoodie wrote: This is how I got most of mine, mostly because I'm not focused or consistantly good enough to get a specific badge.
Having said that, I've almost never used the anti-tank kit, and rarely use assault since I see no benefit to that over support where you can resupply people and have a nice big clip.

I see only one problem with your viewpoint. Stat padding demeans everyone else's achievements. Because so many of these people get their Expert Knife Badge through stat padding, when you see that someone has it, you have to wonder if they got it legitimately or werejust stat padders. I wouldn't care otherwise, but when I earn my badges and medals, I'd rather not some losers get it by basically farming points instead of playing..FatherJack wrote:

I did get a Purple Heart awarded last night during the last round I played, it was the last round because the server crashed half way through, I fear my badge is lost foreverspoodie wrote:--- Activate off-topic mode ---

You can have my one, swap it for a gold star.mrbobbins wrote:I did get a Purple Heart awarded last night during the last round I played, it was the last round because the server crashed half way through, I fear my badge is lost forever
I think you're missing out if you don't use anti-tank or assault Lat. They are my personal favourites because they got things that explode, hand 'nades are ok but not the same. I'm an expert with the AT rockets, shooting tanks over the brow of a hill and shit.
Generally I choose a kit and stick with it the whole round unless there's a specific requirement for another kit, then I'll switch until I'm dead again. I'll try to get a kit that compliments the rest of the squad but doesn't always work out.
