I'll leave this up to you guys, as personally I hate IRC with a passion.
The only thing I'd be worried about by having an IRC channel, is that people will then stop posting on the forum, and the 5punk community will appear less active than it really is, which will deter potential new 5punkers

Agreed - IRC Is good for some things, but 5punk just seems more.. Cosy and homeply here on a forum. Like you all said on the thread whilst looking for a 5punk logo. We're the gaming equivalent of a kickabout in the park. IRC is too "z0mG l337 pwnz j00!1"..
