Ah well, I'm sure it wont be long before that's cracked as well.

From what I've seen today you're missing out on some fantastic emulators, SNES, Megadrive and NeoGeo ones are incredibly smooth and well designed. Hats off!

Interesting!...

So was it problem free?, did you get a mate with a 1.5 to do the 1.5 file getting bit?

Yes and yes. In fact he wouldn't shut up downgrading so I let him help me. :)
Was a bit nerve-racking as it has failed, 90%-ish success rate apparently, but was fine for me. The bricks were probably due to human error.

This page has a video of it working so you know what to expect and lots of other stuff.

I'd love to but I'm not sure I'd really have the time to do it properly, i.e potentially stalking someone every night for 3 weeks

I spied that while searching for some 1.5 downgrade 'bits', not really sure what the difference is between 1.0 and 1.5, everything I've thrown at 1.5 today has worked fine.

(including an iso 'sweep-test')

Devhook updated to emulate firmware 2.60: http://pspupdates.qj.net/Devhook-Update ... /aid/58363

Now I can run my UMD of LocoRoco rather than an ISO.

I'm really glad I updated from 2.60 to 2.71 now

In all seriousness though, I'm not sure I could be bothered with the GTA loader gubbins, as I'm never likely to want to play pirate games on the PSP.

Would of been nice to run some emulators on it, but hardly the end of the world. I'm not going to update mine now for quite some time, just incase a 2.71 -> 1.5 comes out as rumoured.

They think they might be able to do this by using an executable within a web page, as 2.7 stopped the GTA exploit by not allowing the eboot stuff to launch outside of the kernel, or something along those lines.

Having said that, the yourpsp.com site looks very good now being able to download demos straight to your psp through the site.
If this is further rolled otu to all the games coming out on the PSP, then it would be really nice to just randomly browse the demos, download, and run them.

I'll have to check that out, was a bit sparse last time I looked, definitely the way forward being able to download demos directly. Similar thing with the DS although I gather you have to go to a specific wifi location like in 'puter games shop.

And on the PSP 1.5 front: my goodness there a LOT of shit homebrew games out there  I've tried out loads and this it probably the best so far:

http://dl.qj.net/Callisto-v0.2-PSP-Home ... /catid/195

Also tried out the app called IRShell and used it to stream music from PC to PSP over my wireless network, music on the bog FTW.

That's the beauty of the 1.5 firmware, you can run your emulators or whatever straight from the main PSP menu. You just need GTA to perform the downgrade. I was going to say that I don't really play pirated games, as it goes against my morals (mostly), but the emulators are just as bad I guess.

edit: the only good homebrew game I've played is Attack of the Mutants, actually it's the only homebrew game I've played, and it's okay. Basic but quite addictive.
