Elder Scrolls: Arena

Available as a free download, I was quite surprised to see this:

at the start of the game, where the Imperial Province is quite recognisably the same map as that of Oblivion.

Being new to the series, it made me a little regretful that I hadn't gotten into them earlier - all the history and talk present in Oblivion was rather lost on me, and it's unlikely I'll ever play through this DOS game.

I can only imagine how exciting Oblivion's release must have been for fans of the whole series and followers of the history of the Tamriel Empire.

That looks quite impressive considering how old it is. I can't say I'm that bothered about not playing it before though, after all, I played Dungeon Master on the Amiga

I've played all the others but the only ones I have really enjoyed have been Daggerfall and Oblivion.

As I remember Arena was quite limited in scope and Battlespire wasn't really a full game.

If you can find a copy of Daggerfall it might be worth a play, very much like Oblivion, lots of intrigue and obfuscation.

It's still one of my all time favourites.

One of my favourite words ever. I shall look into this game purely for the inclusion of that word in the review.
