I dont post to b3ta a great deal, but I lurk prodigiously

I play ET competively, and I've been playing it since a few months after it came out. I'm of the opinion that its the best game ever

they also have maps on there too, and the DL is quick.

You'll want to get the 1.02 patch as well, as hardly anyone will be playing vanilla I would have thought.

The competition mod is called ETPro, and this is the mod most people use for public servers, it gets updated quite often and its got some good anticheat stuff in addition to the Punkbuster support, so hax are quite rare

The ingame server browser is a little bit bobbins, but http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html is a good bit of kit to help you find a server. Its a trial, but lifetime subscription is pretty cheap and it's ruthlessly efficient

Thanks for the pointers mate, if we didn't already have a good moderator for this forum, I would of added you.

I might try to reinstall the game again as I am having problems with the game crashing after pressing L and then choosing a side to play on

thats an odd server type thing. It happens when your cd key borks. Go into the ETMain directory in the root. Delete the file called etkey. Open the game while connected to the interweb, and type /pb_cdkeyreg and it should fix itself. Cos its a free game, they couldnt be arsed doing the keys properly so you need to assign yourself a new one every so often. Theres also a spawn script in my confi file, so pressing L is a thing of the past

oh yeah, If enough people are up for it, I can hijack one of a couple of servers I have admin rights to and we can have a forum game at some point

nazzor: Ive seen you playing in my XFire, and I tried tio join, but you are playing the unpatched version. Get 1.02 patch installed, as it fixes laods of bugs and there will be a load more servers for you
