What should I buy?

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

I want to buy another multiplayer game for the PC, but I can't decide what to buy.

Let me know which one you think is best for a multiplayer experience, and I'll buy the one that wins the poll :)

P.S. I am thinking of getting BF2, but I don't want to buy the expansion packs, and I'm worried that's what everyone here nwo plays

BF2, easily.

I reckon FEAR will be a good laugh now and then, but offers nothing over quake/unreal/other generic FPSs

GRAW is slow, sluggish, poorly made, and a game that's biased too much towards realism, while being totally unrealistic. just bad.

BF2 on the other hand has long lasting multiplayer potential, with and without 5punkers, is fun allows for different types of playing and is easy to sink time into.

The expansions are totally non essential, a good occasional diversion, but not needed at all.

also if you give me your login details, i can run around in SF and make it so you get access to the SF weapon unlocks for free :)

Beef

Hands down, FEAR single player is worth a go (sweepable!!) but no long term value to be had from Mulitplayer, not tried GRAW but by all accounts the good points are outweighed by the bad.

I don't have the expansions for Beef and it seems that is what mostly gets played for 5punk games, I've also found that although huge amounts of gameplay is rewarded in beef with ranks and unlocks etc. you can happily dip in now and again (like me!) and still have a great experience

*PM's Berk login info to do the SF unlock jobby mc'thing* :)

i think there's been very few non-vanilla beef games, it's likely there'll be a few armpit furry ones, because it's the only decent mod, but i think the majority will still be vanilla

to be clear, all it does is gives you 2 unlocks per rank, and lets you have all teh guns, not just the basic unlocks :)

Still BF2, if you haven't played it. I played it to death last summer and got a bit tired of it. The expansions haven't brought me back, and most people seem content to play the vanilla version.

FEAR was really really annoying on random multiplayer servers. Either everyone was a spawn camping, or the respawn points were badly placed near choke points.

I haven't played GRAW online at all - I've only just managed to finish the first SP mission, so I would anticipate sucking rather hard in MP.

BEEF - great game online, especially when you're in a squad of 5punkers. It's good fun to experiment with all the different classes too. They actually do add a different dimension to how you play the game, unlike in other FPS games where changing class just means you kill people with a slightly different gun.

That is an evil and dirty lie (it's not made by the studio that made OFP, armed assault is the one made by them) :)

Beef of course. While it can be very annoying sometimes it can also be sublime, it's this balance that makes it great. My beef playing hours has almost caught up with my CSS :ahoy:

FEAR single player is quite good and worth checking out for that price, better than Quake 4 single player anyway.

I voted for BF2, though I haven't played in a long time. This is due to the fact that "Beer" and "Deject's Mom" were not options. :aww:

While F.E.A.R. is pretty fun, to be sure, there is only one correct answer:

BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF
BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF
BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF

BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF

Also, Armored Fury is pretty damn good so if you can get it cheap I recommend doing so. Special horses is ok, but I don't play it much. Euro horse is shit and should be avoided.

as an RAF armourer i lol'd at the british kit as its all pish!! Yanks impersonating english and jock accents clearly inspired by the world wars, lots of wot ho's and tally ho's which made me lol and then of course theres the pathetic reload animations on the SA-80, clearly EA forgot to check with a UK military advisor. Reloaded totally wrong and dangerously to boot (americans huh somes them up really).

Can't say I noticed, although it might have put them at a disadvantage...

*Tilt weapon to left*
*Check chamber*
*remove empty magazine*
*fumble for button on pocket*
*drop empty magazine*
*get out full magazine*
*turn it the right way up*
*tilt weapon to right*
*check top round in magazine*
*push magazine into weapon, supported by right arm*
*flick bolt release catch*
*forward assist*
*realise you were shot about 15 seconds into the IA drill*
