It did kind of explain how Alyx manages to avoid being dead from the gigomantic explosion. What you want is some closure from the story but Valve isn't done yet.Vowles wrote:I never wanted HL3, Its just nice to know "Why" sometimes, instead of well, it happened but guess what this has happened now too! I was VERY impressed with Alyxs AI, She never got stuck anywhere (Same couldn't be said for the citizens how ever! hehe). I've just watched the Trailer for HL2.2, Zomg is .... really dead?!?!! :O

Well. That was rather fun. Top Stuff!
It was almost more like the original Half-Life than Half-Life 2 was - HL2 introduced quite a few new things and at times I almost had to remind myself that it was Half-Life and sort of re-excite myself into carrying on playing.
Now, all of the additions are familiar, so this was a really comfortable outing and I enjoyed pretty much every bit of it. HL2 never quite took the crown of best game ever away from HL1 - I can still remember almost the whole sequence of events - but if these episodes continue the way they've started we have a new contender.

Finished! Now I can read the rest of this thread.
I loved it all. Much like HL2 but with better set pieces, story and characters, among other things. A personally highlight was the dark areas, holding off the hoards until the lift arrived and then the dash for the lift through a room full of zeds with very little ammo or health.
Also the little touches are very nice; Alyx pretending to be a zombie, pulling the TV plug out of the wall resulting in the comment "You're right, we shouldn't be watching TV. We'd better get moving" or something like that.

While it is rather good, I saw it was £20 in Tesco - that's a bit steep for 1/3rd of a game with a single replay value of the commentary.Lateralus wrote:Looks like I'll have to get it from the shops then.
While it's true there are games I've bought at £40 which I've played for less than a hour, I try to pick games which are likely have an hours/£ ratio greater than 1.

I finally got some money and could afford to buy this!
But seeing as it's so long after the release date, and as I felt I neeeded something to make up for it, I also got these

Less than a litre (or Liter in this case!) isn't worth the hassle

Uh, it was £20 instore. I had to get it offline as I don't have a credit card. Oddly, it says Half-Life: Source is preloaded on my computer now, but unplayable. Does this mean I can play it when it's released or it's released but I have to pay for it?Soloman wrote:oooh, how much retail version?
Biggest ones they sell around here, I'm afraid.mrbobbins wrote:Less than a litre (or Liter in this case!) isn't worth the hassle
I heard him throw a comment at me, then died, and went close so I could hear what he said more clearly. The second time he called me a lucky something, I forget what exactly. Thing is, the first time, I was almost out of earshot when I heard him shout to me, I'm about 90% certain he said "She's waiting for you Gordon!.... paedophile!"Grimmie wrote: Oh god!
And when barney gets all smug for you..
"Go on Gordon, you DOG!"

Half-Life: Source has been out for quite a while and it really isn't worth paying for. They used the same textures and everything. It's just a straight port to the source engine. You'd have to buy it still.Sticky Label wrote:Uh, it was £20 instore. I had to get it offline as I don't have a credit card.
