I am 100% with you on this. Yes, I know I'm a pedant but I'm fucking proud of it! Luckily it is very easy to leave chat channels etc.

If you just want a merry jaunt around in a big spaceship on your own and 8 year old free then leave all chat channels and have a bash at this. It's not all bad! I think my fondness of it stems from the Starwing/fox/Lylat Wars games so I could be a little biased. Certainly a time for misty eyes.

It's very similar to flying in Starfox, barrel rolls included, just with a mouse instead of an analogue stick. That is pretty much as far as I'll take the comparisons to Starfox though, nothing really compares to 'fox!

Thanks for the insight. That last little bit :above: clinches it for me. One of the biggest turn offs for WoW was the "WHY CAN'T I SELL MY SOUL TO THE SHOPKEEPER MAN MOMMY??????????" spammed in all the chat channels. Drove me nuts. Fuck knows why it winds me up so much but it does.

Grammatical irregularities and excessive superfluous use of punctuation are a sad reflection on the lack of education and idleness of the txt generation.

The spaceships do indeed come in four flavours. As far as I can remember;

1) Machine gun and missle-launcher flavour.
2) Laser flavour
3) Ground unit with big gun flavour
4) Multi-class support ship flavour (Can fly backwards)

I played for about 30mins and I've seen enough. Okay for a free MMO but I'd rather pay a subscription and get a great game, if I played MMOs, which I don't usually. Well Planetside is now updated so that's the next adventure.

Update

Post by tandino »

Yesterday I uninstalled this and installed my spanking new copy of City of Villains. I made a pool table come out of nowhere and send a policeman flying. Hurrah!

Has anyone else given this a go yet?

It's in the /downloads area if you fancy it.
Let me know what you think if you have already played the game.
