I wouldn't mind a play with this in multiplayer. Not been on it in ages, mind, so mine might need updating too.

Planning on getting GMod10? It looks very shiny indeed. Not bad for a fiver subject to exchange rates.

I've no idea how to do stuff on garry's mod but I'll give it a go if the time is good.

Any more thoughts on this?
I have no idea how half of the games that come with GMod9 work, so they might be worth a go. Or not, obviously.

well we could have a 5punk watermellon race, or just piss about in the normal game, or fortwars or something. if berk can get a server up then great, if not then just use a random one, whens good for people?

Okay I gave this a go last night, but I didn;t have a fucking clue what was going on.

The football game looked fun, but I couldn't find any servers running it.

If I'm online, I'd like to give this a go with a 5punker who knows how Garry's mod works, to get the hang of it, as it's quite a steep learning curve with "all those buttons"

I had a go over the weekend and it wasn't much fun:

- First server had a mod which I couldn't find on the web and it wouldn't download from the server.
- Second server was a crappy Source Forts rip-off thing, which had one other person.
- Third server was an empty Italy map, all looked normal to me apart from having all the weapons. No idea how all the GM stuff works so I spent 10 minutes rocket jumping, or more accurately seeing how far I could get my corpse to fly after firing a rocket at the ground.

You didn't build anything then?
We all need to go on and make things that fly and crash with as many exploding barrels as possible.

:above: THIS :above: hard!

I think the on your own trying to jump on random servers experience is utterly shit, as that's what I did all night.
However I can see it would have massive potential with all fo us on Teamspeak and within Garry's mod buggering about making up our own games, and doing silly stuff.

I'm not sure the server I was on had this enabled. My previous is experience with GM months ago was that the weapon's alt fire modes where tools for building and manipulating, this wasn't the case in this server but maybe this is not the case with GM anymore. Anyone know of a primer document for GM? I don't want to read the whole wiki or trawl through forums for bits of info.

I've not seen any, I'm afraid, I learned what little I know from the facepunch forums.

All you need to know to start with is:
Press Q for the menu- this gives access to objects and characters to create, plus tools to weld them together and make them do things.

Use the Blue Grav Gun to pick stuff up.
Press E while using the Blue Grav Gun to rotate stuff.
Right click with the Blue Grav Gun to freeze something in place.

It now comes with some mini games (you can script your own in the Lua language), as well as the Construction maps. I've not tried most of them.

I rather like Garry's mod now I have some idea of what can be done and how to do it. Although playing on bukkake was a bit chaotic and broken (I was getting warning messages made of of squares instead of alphanumerics). I managed to make a vehicle from a gastank, some saw blades and thrusters. Then someone attached some balloons to it and my beautiful creation went soaring into the sky as I looked on, saddened by the loss, then someone else shot me in the head ... :(

I would be up for another "game" if anyone else is, maybe we could try the mods like melon racing?

Sounds like a plan.
The text corruption thing is a known problem, and there doesn't seem to be any sure-fire way to fix it... I shall check the garry's mod forums again to see if there's anything new.
