Microsoft wants us to have control over our OSs

Fista Beta 2 sucks.
The installer sucks. The set up sucks. The user interface sucks. The graphics suck. The effects cause graphics corruption, which sucks. The memory management sucks. The bundled applications (WMP11, IE7) suck. Windows Explorer sucks. All the pointless little changes suck. The fact that it will not install on a 20GB HDD sucks. The system requirements suck left, right and centre.
And yet OSX runs so beautifully on my 1.33GHz PowerPC chip with less than a gig of RAM and a shitty little 64MB GeForce FX 5200.
Why the fuck does Fista need such high system resources?

You forget something else... how long it took them to get OS X running any faster than running through golden syrup. Remember the first *actual retail release* of OS X, where typing in a password that was longer than the initial size of the box allowed for caused the window to automatically resize - which took so long that it seemed like a system crash? No? Or funnier stuff, like the login password stuff being kerberized but the screensaver password not, so you'd have to find a sysadmin to unlock your computer? Oh, the laughs. Fortunately, even while the screensaver was on and the system was secured, you could still use up all of the system resources by pressing taking desktop screenshots.Jinxx wrote:Fista Beta 2 sucks.

Now, compare to Fista *Beta 2*. In other words, an OS that won't be out for about another nine months.
Plus, who gives a shit about Macs?
Also - am I the only one who'd rather set my prepuce on fire than use Apple applications? QuickTime and iTunes are especially horrid. Thank fuck for QuickTime Alternative and any other decent media player.
MS care about OSX because they need something to rip all their ideas from
It sounds like MS are trying too hard. Apple have a huge advantage with their fixed platform setup which makes developing and testing an OS a lot easy I imagine. MS have to make an OS that runs on all sorts of hardware and that must be a big job, they should try to keep it simple and leave the flashy stuff to Apple.
