I need a 5.1 surround sound capable card

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

I need a 5.1 surround sound capable card

Post by Hehulk »

So, i was out shopping this morning, and happened upon a nice set of 5.1 surround sound speakers for £25. ! impulse buy later, I'm a happy chappy running two of the 5 speakers in stereo mode, because my current sound card doesn't have 5.1 support. Can someone suggest me a good, not hugely expensive (IE those ones from Creative that cost hundreds) card I can replace it with?

No problem, I have one and it's rather good. Never had speakers attached to it, though, just headphones.

Problem I've always had with surround sound is the soundcards have front and rear outputs, whereas the surround sound (mine at least) has left and right inputs. Mine was a home cinema system though, not one of those Creative Labs setups.
