Operating systems are there not to be noticed. Sounds like I'm going to have to learn linux :/

It's not all bad. Some nice Linux chaps figgured out how to get eve working in Linux via some kind of emulator (Cedga, or somethng like that), and Linux is mainly stable as a rock. Just don't go pulling out chunks of the OS. Only problem I had was installing drivers, and in the end that forced me back to windows, but if I can crack that, mandrivia linux ftw!Strawberry Dragon wrote:^^thisLee wrote:I hope Fista fails badly. Ah Linux, must have set up machines with it a hundred times. Felt a bit of satisfaction having got everything working, and then deleted it and done something else.
Don't get me wrong, I've done stuff with it: replicated eDirectory, set up webmail mirrors, run Apache clusters, even the odd phpBB installation, but for home use it's all a bit unnecessary for what I actually do at home. Which is play games.

^this. When linux/mac can run *all* the same games as PC, *then* I will think about switching.FatherJack wrote: Don't get me wrong, I've done stuff with it: replicated eDirectory, set up webmail mirrors, run Apache clusters, even the odd phpBB installation, but for home use it's all a bit unnecessary for what I actually do at home. Although, the only thing I would be thinking about is which way to go
This is why I can never quite be bothered. Despite best intentions of having my PC as a word processor, which it is used a lot for, its other main function is gaming. Unless games like Oblivion start getting Mac or Linux releases too, then I just can't see myself being drawn away.FatherJack wrote:Ah Linux, must have set up machines with it a hundred times. Fuck yeah.
Ah... Those are the minimum specs. What did you get in the recommended tab? I passed all but graphics card with flying colours, and I don't think it really understands muti-gpu rendering, so I'm not bothered.
