BF2 Memory usage.

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

This was done on a busy-ish game on Sharqi Peninsula (2 rounds and mapchange after are logged)

Minimum memory usage: 147MB
Average memory usage: 693MB
Maximum memory usage: 861MB

Graph of memory use:

Image

Tech Stuff: This was done using Monad (MSH) using this script

Code: Select all

while (1 -eq 1) {get-date >> C:\BF2-memory-log.txt; get-process BF2* | format-table -HideTableHeaders WS >> C:\BF2-memory-log.txt; start-sleep -m 30000}

What does this mean with respect to the 2gig debate tho? Is it settled one way or the other?

well from graph A we can see that the memory used is a little under a gig, which is all well and good for a console but guessing that you will have windows and various other programs open it will more than likely throw it over a gig :ignore:

If one program by itself is using nearly a gig, I would say its fairly definitive proof that 2 gig will improve things considerably.

*looks for memory on eBay*

basically, 2 gig is ideal, 1.5 gig is still good. 1280mb (1024 + 256*) is still acceptable.

it all depends on how clean your computer is too, check your memory usage before you go into a game (without doing anything special) then add that number to the max bf2 memory usage.

*deject's configuramation.
