There's rumours that the next Battlefield game will be set in the future so these could be competing.

An interesting match-up. While the BF2 makers have the team combat thing down, the Quake makers have been defining sci-fi guns since ever.

The new Ghost Recon, Advanced Warfighter, looks like an interesting mash up of traditional squad fighter and futuristic what-not

I read an interesting bit about Quake Wars: The Strogg have a troop type that can raise dead enemy troops, translated into the game by making an enemy corpse a one-use spawn point. That's pretty cool IMHO.
